Houston firefighters, Red Cross hand out free smoke detectors in northeast Houston neighborhoods

Houston firefighters, volunteers and the American Red Cross teamed up Saturday to help stop house fires before they start.

They went door to door in northeast Houston neighborhoods to hand out free smoke detectors and fire safety information.

They met up at the Northeast Multi-Service Center on Spaulding at 9am and then canvassed the area until 11:30am.
