It happened around 8pm on Texas Parkway and Court Road. Police say a man, who is in his 50s, apparently had his three dogs hooked onto one leash when they broke loose. He ran after them.
The man was hit by an oncoming Trail Blazer. Two of his dogs were killed. A third was injured, but ran away when passers-by tried to help them.
The man was taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
The driver of the SUV stayed on scene and police say will not face any charges.
