Suspect in robbery shot at police in Beaumont

BEAUMONT, TX

Beaumont Police said Sunday that an officer responded to a robbery at a convenience store late Saturday and found a man fitting the suspect's description. The suspect fired at the officer, who shot back. Police scoured the area without finding the suspect.

On Sunday morning a woman called for an ambulance saying her brother had a broken arm. But when paramedics arrived, they discovered it was a bullet wound. He matched the description of the robbery suspect and officers found evidence linking him to the crime.

The wound was not life threatening. Police have not released the suspect's name. He was being held on aggravated robbery and attempted capital murder charges.
