HFD firefighter helps injured dog get care

HOUSTON

The lab was discovered in Station No. 27 by a firefighter. She appeared to have a severely broken leg, several cuts and scratches but no one knew what happened to her.

The firefighter took photos of the injured dog and them on social media.

The word spread thought Houston's dog-loving community, and on Wednesday, a Purple Paws Rescue volunteer took the lab to the First Colony Veterinary Clinic in Sugar Land, where she underwent surgery on her leg. A pin has been placed to secure the break and promote healing.

Volunteers are now searching for a foster home, and eventually permanent home for the pup.
