The situation sparked a SWAT scene at an apartment at the Emerson Court Apartments in the 200 block of Emerson at Garrott.
At the end of it, officers found the two women dead inside. They have been identified as 67-year-old Terry Sullivan and 60-year-old Barbara Mayes.
Investigators now say Sullivan was shot and killed and Mayes died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Detectives have not yet revealed a motive.
