Local man gets nearly 13 years for cocaine, cash

HOUSTON

A federal judge in Houston on Wednesday sentenced 38-year-old Michael Washington. Jurors in 2011 convicted Washington of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and possession with intent to distribute of cocaine.

Investigators say Washington was busted in June 2010 after receiving nearly 20 pounds of cocaine in a swap involving three suppliers. Prosecutors say the trio dropped the cocaine at Washington's home, he paid them in cash and one of the men left with a bag of money.

Federal agents who had received information about a possible drug deal monitored the area and the vehicles of the three departing dealers, leading to arrests.
