Thieves stealing batteries of Cleveland ISD buses

CLEVELAND, TX

Cleveland ISD police say their bus barn reported 20 boosted batteries over the weekend. Each bus uses two batteries.

Police say other school districts have also been hit, and the thieves know what they're doing.

"They're cutting a back fence and gaining access. They're staying out of our cameras, in that they're staying low and between the buses," Cleveland ISD Police Chief Rex Evans said.

Police say the batteries can get anywhere from $45 to $70 at a scrap yard. A reward is being offered for help catching those responsible.
