Retail gasoline prices in Texas jump 15 cents

HOUSTON

AAA Texas on Thursday reported the average price per gallon at the pump has reached $3.53 per gallon. The nationwide average also rose 15 cents to hit $3.67 per gallon.

The association's weekly survey finds the Dallas-Fort Worth area has the most expensive gasoline at $3.60 per gallon. The cheapest gasoline statewide is in Corpus Christi and El Paso at $3.47 per gallon.

AAA officials say expensive crude oil costs have pressured gasoline prices higher nationwide. The association says unrest in Egypt has also been a factor because of the country's proximity to the strategically important Suez Canal.
