Workers in Southwest Mattress say they were sitting at the counter working when the Ford Explorer came crashing into the store.
Eyewitnesses say the driver was traveling on Richmond, lost control, and drove over a median and into the shopping center where she crashed through the front of two businesses.
Workers in those businesses say they heard what sounded like a huge explosion and felt the building shake. Workers say they are OK.
The female driver of the Ford Explorer was taken by ambulance to SW Hospital with unknown injuries according to police.
HPD and HFD are on scene. They have shut down all stores in the shopping center. A fire marshal investigator told me she evacuated the businesses as they try determining if the building is structurally sound.
