Santa Fe police: July 4 car burglary spree ends with 4 arrests

SANTA FE, TX

Police say they received a report around 3:15am Thursday that a burglary of a motor vehicle had just occurred in the 11800 block of Old Spanish Trail. Officers responding to that scene stumbled upon a suspect breaking into another car just around the corner.

That suspect had items that had been reported stolen from the other car burglary and was arrested. Police then identified a possible getaway vehicle description, and that car was quickly tracked down on a nearby street. Officers found more stolen items in the vehicle and the three suspects inside of it were arrested.

Detectives say they later determined the four suspects were wanted in connection to as many as 10 car break-ins and were charged with engaging in organized crime.

The suspects have been identified as Texas City residents Douglas V. Getters, 19, Anonh C. Mccarver, 18, and James P. Sullivan, 19; they're each being held on a $100,000 bond. A 16-year-old who was also arrested is being held in custody pending a hearing.
