What's the Deal: Why not rent a bike?

HOUSTON

You may have seen the bike kiosks popping up all over town. The 'B Share' allows you to rent a bike for the day or for the week. A lot of people are renting so they can save money on gas and parking in downtown. Others just enjoy the relaxing ride.

"It allows you to go look at your city in a way you've never looked at it before," said Susan Knapp, co-founder of the Green Bicycle Initiative. "You are not in your vehicle , just looking at the car in front of you. You look at your city. It's amazing what you will find just riding your bike."

It costs five bucks to rent a bike for the day, $15 dollars for a 7-day pass and a yearly membership is $65.

If you are looking for someone to bike with, there are several groups in the area who meet up for group bike rides around the city.
