Neighbors rescue pets from southwest Houston house fire

HOUSTON

It happened just after 1pm on Cheena near Cliffwood.

Firefighters arrived and found flames shooting through the roof. At one point, crews pulled back because they were worried about the roof collapsing.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, but investigators said it looks like it started from a box fan near the rear patio of the home.

No one was home at the time except for the homeowner's pets, which were rescued by neighbors. Some firefighters had to get treatment for heat exhaustion.
