The crowd at this year's day-long lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender festival and parade was even more excited than usual because it happened just days after the Supreme Court made two rulings in favor of same-sex marriage in states where it is legal.
Although Texas isn't one of those states, people say attitudes are changing.
"I actually moved back to Houston two years ago," one festivalgoer told us. "I'd gone up to Boston for six years. And coming back in just those six years later, it's very different here. I feel very much more accepted than I ever have. You see the change."
Most of Saturday's action was concentrated on Westheimer between Dunlavy and Montrose. The street festival on Commonwealth and Yoakum ran from 1 to 7pm, then the parade began at 8pm.
People picked up rainbow flags, enjoyed food and entertainment and learned about LGBT resources in Houston.
Organizers estimate more than 300,000 people attended the events.
