New charges could be filed after man dies 9 weeks after assault

HOUSTON

Marcus Trahan, 20, is currently charged of burglary with the intent to commit assault.

According to Houston police, the victim, 64-year-old Ronald Boze, was beaten and attacked with a machete during the afternoon of February 14 at his apartment in the 8200 block of Richmond. Authorities say a masked Trahan broke into his home after he banged on the door and Boze refused to open the door.

Boze was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, treated and released. Trahan was spotted by officers at the apartment complex and arrested at the scene.

However, on April 20, Boze was found dead in his apartment. An autopsy conducted by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences later determined Boze had died as a result of injuries he suffered during the assault.

As a result, the case is being reintroduced to the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
