A Montgomery County jury found James Otis O'Bryant, 53, guilty of two counts of the sexual assault of a child. Police say Bryant admitted having sexual contact with the 14-year-old, but blamed that contact on the teenager.
"Today, jurors affirmed that children may not always make the best choices, but, an adult should always choose to protect a child, not take advantage of a child," said prosecutor Nancy Hebert.
A judge sentenced O'Bryant to two consecutive life terms, which means he will be eligible for parole in 70 years.
A life sentence is automatically imposed by statute once the prosecution establishes that the defendant has at least one prior conviction involving a sexual offense.
