Old Heights tree cut down for new development

An old sycamore tree that had one Heights community divided was completely cut down on Tuesday to make way for a new development.

The tree, located on Oxford and 23rd streets, was originally going to stay. The developer said he tried to save it.

A homeowner who wanted the tree to stick around started an online petition in an effort to change the developer's mind. But it was located on private property, so there was not a lot supporters could do to stop the removal.
