Police chase ends in southwest Houston with 2 crashes, pedestrian hit

HOUSTON

Police said they were chasing a burglary suspect when he hit two cars and then a homeless pedestrian. The chase ended on Westheimer at Augusta, less than a mile from where it started.

According to police, the suspect hit one car on Stoney Brook Street, then turned east on Westheimer and hit another car before striking a homeless man.

A couple in the first car that was hit was shocked by what happened.

"We tried to chase him. I was ready to go get him," said Vince Finocchario, a passenger in that first vehicle struck. "I was going to go get him. Just get him. Get close to him and tackle him, or I have no idea."

In the end, that wasn't necessary. The suspect was injured. Both he and the man he hit were in the hospital Sunday night. Their conditions were unknown.

The second car hit belongs to newcomers to Texas from Louisiana. They told us they only have liability insurance on their car, which is now totaled.
