Thieves target volunteer fire station's life-saving equipment

HOUSTON

The Liberty County Sheriff's Office says someone broke into the Moss Bluff Fire Station on County Road 133 South. The thieves stripped the fire trucks of their lights, radios and brass fittings. The station lost about $200,000 worth of equipment.

"They pay for so much of this out of their own pocket, and their fundraisers," said Capt. Ken DeFoor. "It's inconceivable that someone would come into a fire station and steal the very equipment that is meant to save lives and protect property."

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call the sheriff's office. There is a $4,000 reward.
