Houston mayor pays tribute to firefighters

Houston Mayor Annise Parker says the four Houston firefighters killed in a hotel fire sacrificed their lives to save others.

She spoke after Texas Gov. Rick Perry at the memorial, held in Reliant Stadium on Wednesday. The firefighters died Friday in a five-alarm fire at a rundown hotel near a busy street.

She remembered each of the four killed by name, noting their bravery, and telling short stories about each.

Parker's voice cracked at times as she spoke before thousands who attended the memorial.

Firefighters are not the types of people who sit still while others are in need. They've started selling T-shirts with the names of each of the fallen firefighters emblazoned on the back. One-hundred percent of proceeds go to the 100 Club. The 100 Club is supporting the victims and families. Anyone interested in donating can do so online at the100club.org.
