$140K of cocaine found in woman's shoes at Philadelphia Int'l Airport

PHILADELPHIA, PA

Authorities say 25-year-old Iveliza Tuhanna Perez, of Camden, New Jersey, was sent through a routine secondary examination line by Customs and Border Patrol officials on Wednesday. There, agents found three pairs of cork wedge shoes that seemed inappropriately heavy.

X-ray exams found abnomalies in all six shoes and officers found a white, powdery substance when they probed one shoe.

The substance field tested as cocaine and Perez was then turned over to Philadelphia Police Department officers.

The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office is prosecuting Perez on charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute and Knowing and Intentional Possession.

In total, according to U.S. Customs officials, Perez's shoes contained 4 pounds, 7 ounces of cocaine with a street value of roughly $140,000.
