At about 10am Thursday, a call came in to Texas City Police about four wade fishermen in distress. Texas City Fire and Rescue dispatched personnel to the area, along with police officers.
By the time they arrived, three of the four fishermen had made it to safety, with one still missing in the water. The missing man has been identified as Julio Issac Torres, 35.
A search and rescue mission was begun, with the aid of the US Coast Guard. A Coast Guard helicopter was deployed as well as rescue boats.
As of 4:30pm, authorities report the search is ongoing. They plan to continue the search until dark, or until Torres is found.
