North Forest ISD annexation placed on hold by Department of Justice

HOUSTON

Per the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the DOJ placed a hold on the proposed annexation until all changes affecting voting are reviewed and approved by the attorney general.

The Texas Education Agency has been asked to submit a response to the request for voting designations. After a TEA response is submitted, the DOJ will have 60 days to review it and make a decision. Or, they can request additional information if needed.

Parents, teachers and others in the community remain concerned about what the future holds for North Forest ISD and its students and staff. They scheduled a prayer vigil with community religious leaders Tuesday night at 6:30pm to address the annexation issues.

The vigil was set to be held at The Household of Faith Community Church, located at 6302 Tidwell Road, Houston, TX 77028.
