Two of 3 women who led police on chase that ended in fatal crash faced a judge

HOUSTON

Shiquinta Franklin is facing several charges including murder. Ashley Howard is charged with a felony theft.

They along with a third woman were arrested last Thursday after they crashed their vehicle into a car, killing a mother and seriously injuring her two young children. One of the children is not expected to survive.

The women were being chased by Humble police at the time of the crash. They were wanted for shoplifting at Deerbrook Mall. Prosecutors say Franklin was the driver and that is why she was charged with murder.

After court Tuesday, Howard issued an emotional apology to the victims.

"It was an accident. What more can we say? We apologize," she said.

The third suspect in this case, Raquel Gonzalez, remains in the hospital.
