The Census Bureau deems Houston one of the fastest growing cities in the country, second only to New York City. More than 34,500 people flocked to the Bayou City from July 2011 to July 2012. That migration bumped up our population to nearly 2.2 million. And the entire state seems to be getting in on the growth.
In fact, half of the 10 U.S. cities with the largest gains are here in Texas. Houston at number two, San Antonio at number four, Austin at number five, Dallas at number 7 and Fort Worth at number ten.
