The mail carriers met at Houston's main post office to talk about the 21st annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. On Saturday, mail carriers around the country will collect non-perishable food donations as they deliver mail along their postal routes.
"I just think there's so many needy and hungry people out there that that's the little bit we can do to help out the community and we do see the community every day and the people so we know where the needs are," said postal carrier Laura Lee Carson.
These mail carriers have set a goal to collect half a million pounds of food this year. The local collections will benefit the Houston Food Bank. All donated items should be placed in non-breakable containers.
