The accident happened at around 10am on I-45. The two buses were among five transporting Melillo Middle School students on a field trip to the University of Houston.
The district says a lost load of wood on the lanes of I-45 caused vehicles to swerve, leading to the the accident.
Six students complained of injury and were transported to a local hospital. All six of those students were later released.
The school's principal sent a letter home to parents.
