SWAT standoff ends with man in custody in Montrose area

HOUSTON

According to Houston police, at around 12:50am, officers were called to a home on West Pierce near Montrose for a loud noise complaint.

There was a man When officers arrived they say a man allegedly pointed a weapon towards officers and then barricaded himself inside.

A SWAT team arrived and negotiators talked with the man for an hour and finally they were able to him to surrender after 5:30am. They say ultimately the reason he was able to walk out of his house was because they broke through his front door using one of their SWAT vehicles.

Police say this would have been a minor citation if it had just been the loud noise complaint but they say this man escalated the situation by pointing a weapon at a police officer. Authorities say they have had contact with this man before.

The 34-year-old man is facing aggravated assault of a public servant charge.

No one was injured during the incident.
