Two drug busts in one day in Liberty County

HOUSTON

The first bust happened around 2pm at a two-story house located on CR2145 following an in-depth investigation into the home, according to the Liberty County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities say when they walked inside, they found marijuana plants growing in every room of the house, and even found a large barn in the backyard under construction to house even more plants. Thirty-one-year-old Ha Van Nguyen was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and more could be filed against him. He is being held at the Liberty County Jail until a bond hearing.

Authorities say a total of 310 plants were seized during the bust, which are valued at an estimated at $1 million. Authorities also found over $12,000 worth of expensive lighting fixtures and a little over $2,000 in cash.

Around the same time, authorities executed a search warrant at a home on CR1335 for methamphetamine. Officers were at the house hours earlier to investigate a report of shots fired and spotted drugs. During a search of the home, authorities found a quarter ounce of meth, several tabs of LSD, cocaine and a vile of unknown liquid.

Authorities arrested 34-year-old Angela Allen on a charge of possession of a controlled substance and transported her jail. She was released after posting a $50,000 bond.
