Liberty HS teacher accused of improper relationship

LIBERTY ,TX

Shortly before midnight Tuesday, the Liberty Police Department arrested Valerie Celeste Moore. Moore, 29, is charged with improper relationship between educator and student. A judge set the bond for the second degree felony at $25,000.

As a result of these allegations, the teacher has been placed on unpaid administrative leave, effective immediately, according to the school district. Moore was hired in February, and no reports of inappropriate student contact by the teacher had been made prior to this incident.

School district officials issued the following statement: " The District does not condone and will not tolerate conduct of this nature, or any inappropriate conduct with students. We have taken swift and serious employment action in this matter. ... The safety of every LISD student is the District's highest priority. The alleged conduct of Moore is shocking and reprehensible, and will never be tolerated in our school district. The alleged conduct violates the trust that our children and our community place in our educators every day. The District will take every measure available to aggressively address this situation."
