West Houston man accused of fatally shooting common-law wife

HOUSTON

Hung Xuan Tran, 25, is charged with murder. According to Harris County Sheriff's Office investigators, he fatally shot Razida Ali in their home in the 7200 block of Brookville Lane on March 18.

According to court documents, Tran's sister says she received a call from her brother early that morning, saying there had been an accident. She says she told him to call 911, but he refused.

The sister says she went to Tran's home, but nobody would answer the door. That's when she called 911. Once emergency responders arrived, they forced entry into the home and found Ali's body on a sofa under a blanket. They believe she had been dead for hours.

Tran wasn't at the home and at the request of officers, his sister tried to call him on his cell phone. When he finally answered, she said he asked her to wire money to him. She asked to meet him in person somewhere, but he reportedly declined and stopped answering his phone.

The couple has three children together, but none were apparently home at the time of the shooting.
