Mother upset over teacher's alleged relationship with teen

HOUSTON

The teen's mother tells Eyewitness News the relationship between the teacher and her daughter started around spring break. She says the school and police know about it, but haven't done enough to punish the teacher.

Dianna said, "I just, I can't understand it. I don't understand it at all."

Dianna says her 16-year-old daughter -- a 10th grader at Alief Hastings High School -- is engaged in a sexual relationship with a female English teacher. We aren't naming the teacher because she hasn't been charged.

"She honestly feels that her and the teacher are in love with each other, and they want to spend the rest of their lives together," Dianna said.

Dianna says she reported the incident to Alief ISD police last Thursday, after school administrators first contacted her. Dianna says she was told the teacher is suspended, not fired, though the school district spokesperson refused to confirm that to us. The district did say there is an ongoing investigation related to an inappropriate relationship.

Dianna said, "She says that they did look at the consequences and the teacher didn't care about what the outcome would be."

Just this week, Dianna says Alief ISD police called her saying her daughter posted pictures snuggled up against the teacher on Facebook. She also showed us evidence of the relationship including graphic sexual details from the girl's diary and social media chats. Still, police haven't turned the case over to the district attorney's office and Dianna is growing impatient.

She said, "Basically I just want to see justice done. This is inappropriate conduct, from a 16-year-old to a 29-year-old teacher. That should've never happened and basically I want action taken."

Dianna has taken daughter out of school and is considering educational alternatives.
