The school day got off to a rough start for students involved in a wreck while on their school bus this morning.

According to HISD, there were 18 students on a bus headed to Pro-Vision Academy on Wilmington in southeast Houston when a car slammed into the back of the bus at around 9am. Four of the students were checked out for minor injuries. We're told those in the passenger car suffered more serious injuries, but the extent of those is not known.

The students were transferred to another bus and taken to school. The bus driver was not injured.

Houston police cited the driver of the car.
