A woman is in custody after leading Pearland police on a chase after reportedly stealing cigarillos from a gas station store.

It all started shortly after 10am with a robbery at a Phillips 66 gas station at 4824 W. Broadway in Pearland. The clerk says a woman walked into the business and tried to purchase cigarettes. The clerk asked for ID, which the woman wasn't able to produce.

The woman then reportedly walked around the counter and grabbed a pack of Zig Zag cigarillos and fled the store in her vehicle.

The clerk reportedly followed in her own car and flagged down Pearland police.

Officers found the suspect's vehicle traveling northbound on Mykawa and gave chase. The suspect crashed into a pole on W. Orem near Mykawa.
