A jury sentenced Richard Mendoza, Jr., to 50 years in prison for the 2002 murder of Christopher Daigle in Fort Bend County. Mendoza will also have to pay a $10,000 fine.
On Thursday, the jury convicted Mendoza for the murder.
Prosecutors say Mendoza killed Daigle out of jealousy because he believed Daigle had kissed his girlfriend.
