HPD: Man shot to death in Thanksgiving morning robbery attempt

HOUSTON

According to investigators, three or four young Hispanic males fled the scene of the fatal shooting and have not been identified.

It happened around 2:30am Thursday in the 7400 block of Long Point Drive.

Police said the victim, 28, drove his vehicle into the parking lot of a closed convenience store. He reportedly spoke briefly to a woman standing in the parking lot, and she got into his car to continue the conversation.

That's when two males, armed with pistols, approached them and tried to open the vehicle door in an apparent robbery attempt, police said.

Investigators said the victim tried to drive away, but he was shot and died at the scene.

His identity is pending notification to family members.

The gunmen fled in a dark-colored crew cab pickup truck that was waiting for them. A second vehicle, described only as a small sedan, was initially seen by witnesses at the scene, but it has yet to be located.

Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
