On Wednesday a new section of Fairmont Parkway opened up between Beltway 8 and Space Center Boulevard. Construction on this $12 million project lasted about 10 months. The expansion work included adding additional lanes of traffic along with U-turns and improving traffic signals.
Additional work on Fairmont Parkway will begin in January.
