It happened just before 11pm on the East Freeway at Sheldon.
Officials said a man darted across the freeway and dodged several cars.
Once he made it to the feeder, he was hit by a tow truck and died instantly.
The tow truck driver called 911 and waited for deputies to arrive. He will not face any charges.
