The word is going out about plans to celebrate the Hermann Park centennial.

The Houston Parks and Recreation And Hermann Park Conservancy held a public meeting to discuss the $30 million centennial event which will happen in 2014.

Another public meeting will be held 3-5pm Thursday at The Houston Garden Center in Hermann Park, 1500 Hermann Drive, Houston 77004.

The city says some of the changes include eight acres of various gardens from a formal rose garden to an interactive family garden, a sculpture promenade featuring public art donated by countries around the world and a pavilion designed by world-renowned architect Peter Bohlin.
