Hundreds of parents and students attended an open house Saturday for Houston Independent School District's magnet programs in northwest Houston.
Representatives from all 113 magnet schools were on hand to talk about programs focusing on subjects like medicine, fine arts and foreign languages.
Students were able to fill out applications at the open house.
Magnet programs at the elementary, middle and high school are available to all children, including those who live outside HISD.
