Arson investigators say on the night of October 19, the victim was walking to his residence on McGallion Rd. in north Harris County when he saw his brother's car parked in front. He says he was walking to the back door when his brother, Michael Wayne Trevino, walked out of the residence and past him without saying a word.
The brother said he immediately saw a glowing light in the back of the residence. He said he told his neighbors about the fire while Trevino drove away.
Investigators interviewed Trevino a few days later and say he admitted to lighting a piece of paper and placing it on a couch with the intention of burning down his brother's place. They say Trevino told them he was recently evicted from his place of residence due to his brother and was upset with him.
Trevino further stated, "It would save the taxpayers money for not having to tear it down," investigators say.
Trevino, 59, is charged with arson.
