The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, has agreed to an exchange of objects, staff and expertise with a privately held Kuwaiti collection of Islamic art.

The agreement announced Friday will include The al-Sabah Collection placing around 60 objects including carpets, architectural fragments, ceramics, jewelry and manuscripts on long-term loan in a gallery at the Houston museum. The Texas facility will reciprocate with staff exchanges, training and a future exchange of works of art and exhibitions.

The initial term of the renewable agreement is for five years. The first display is expected to be on view in Houston starting Jan. 26. That display will contain objects from the eighth to 18th centuries, made in the Iberian Peninsula, North Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia.
