The sheriff launched the iWatch Harris County app for Android and iPhone. The app is a crime watch tool that allows users to report suspicious or criminal activity. The app allows users to send anonymous tips to law enforcement via their smart phones.
"It sent me on a mission to find ways on how we can leverage the technology that many people have at their hands already available to them," Sheriff Garcia said.
HCSO says tips received from app users have led to at least 14 arrests and have created or enhanced other investigations.
