Police: Man carjacked, forced to drive gunman

HOUSTON

The victim says he was held at gunpoint at an air pump at a gas station on the corner of Eldridge and Bellaire at around 1am.

The victim is in his 20s and possibly a medical worker because he was wearing scrubs and a stethoscope when this happened. Deputies say that victim was putting air in his tires when the suspect asked him for his wallet, then told him to get back in the car and drive them both.

They got about two miles down Eldridge when the gunman ordered the driver to stop. The victim told deputies he was scared because they were in a dark, secluded stretch of road so he accelerated. That started a struggle between the two during which the gunman fired his weapon twice inside the car.

Amazingly, the driver wasn't hit, but all that action caused him to crash into a construction area on Belknap near Old Richmond where both men jumped out of the car and the suspect ran off.

The victim called 911. He was not injured.

The search is still on for the suspect. Anyone with information is urged to call the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
