Police have arrested a teen they say pulled the trigger, killing an 18-year-old Sugar Land man two weeks ago.

Hamza Raza, 18, of Sugar Land, was found dead on Carvel near Windrow just after midnight on August 16.

Police say Raza met a male known only as "Dookie" at the location to buy drugs. As Raza tried to make his purchase, a second unknown man pulled out a pistol and told Raza to get on the ground. Raza then tried to flee, police say, but "Dookie" grabbed him. Raza broke free and, as he again attempted to flee, he was fatally shot.

Investigation and witness statements helped police identify Aaron Jamal Smith, 18, as the alleged shooter in this case and on Monday he was arrested without incident.

Smith is charged with capital murder. Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
