It happened around 1:40am on Bissonnet at Beechnut.
Investigators said the officer was westbound on Bissonnet in a police cruiser with lights and sirens running when a pickup truck going south on Beechnut was unable to stop at the intersection.
The patrol car hit the pickup on its side and shoved it onto the curb.
According to officials, the squad car was totaled but no one was injured.
It's unclear whether the driver of the truck will face charges.
