Investigators say the victim had just arrived to his home on Fieldworth near Brea around 2am when two men ambushed him. Police say they demanded his pickup.
The man refused and put up a fight. That's when one of the robbers shot the man in the stomach.
He was taken to Ben Taub Hospital and is expected to recover.
The two suspects got away with nothing. They're still at large.
