Push to repeal ordinance that fines groups feeding homeless

Opponents to a city ordinance that would fine groups and individuals who feed the homeless turned in thousands of signatures against the measure.

Dozens of groups turned in more than 34,000 signatures against the ordinance. Several opponents are scheduled to speak before city council today.

They say the ordinance criminalizes charity to the poor. They're pushing for a charter amendment on the ballot this November rather than repealing the ordinance.
