"This is a sad day in the Bryan-College Station community. As most of you know, a traumatic incident occurred a few blocks from our campus today. We are deeply saddened to learn about the deaths of three individuals, including a law enforcement officer. My thoughts and prayers, as well I am sure of the entire Aggie community, go out to the families and close friends of those who died so tragically, those who were injured and anyone else personally impacted by this senseless act of violence. Senseless attacks by violent criminals have no place in the State of Texas--and will not be tolerated. The Attorney General's Office has offered law enforcement assistance to the Department of Public Safety and our Crime Victim Services personnel have contacted local authorities to ensure they have whatever resources are necessary to aid the victims of this terrible crime.

Our condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Brazos County Precinct 1 Constable Brian Bachmann who was killed today in a shooting near the Texas A&M campus in College Station.

Courtney Clark, the sister of the shooting suspect, Thomas Caffall, also reached Monday evening at her mother's home in Navasota:
"Our hearts and prayers go out to the families and this is just a senseless tragedy," she said. "We are just distraught by the havoc that he has caused. We're shocked."
