Just before 2am, a driver ran him over near Highway 90 in northeast Harris County.
Investigators say the man driving a landscape service pickup had stepped out of the truck and was doing something on the road when he was hit. It was not immediately clear if the driver who hit the man stopped or not, because there were no witnesses.
The 27-year-old man was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition.
