It happened on Sandalfoot at Huffmeister at around 9pm. Deputy constables were called to the home to investigate a possible disturbance.
They say a 50-year-old woman inside refused to leave. It's not yet clear what happened next, but an officer fired his weapon and shot the woman.
She was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition. The officer was not hurt.
